Saskatchewan Occupation In-Demand List

The Saskatchewan Occupation in-demand list is an immigrant-friendly program that targets high-skilled workers who have work experience in a certain occupation. It works through the SINP Expression of Interest system, which uses a points system to rank candidates.

To qualify, you must have at least one year of full-time (paid) work experience in a high skilled occupation that is not on the SINP Excluded Occupations List. You must also demonstrate that your occupation is in demand in Saskatchewan at the time of your application.

Occupations on the In-Demand Occupations List

The Occupation In-Demand sub-category of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) targets skilled workers in high-skilled occupations that do not appear on the SINP Excluded Occupations List. The stream works similar to Express Entry and requires candidates to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) which is ranked using a points system.

To be eligible, you must have at least one year of full-time work experience in an in-demand Occupation at National Occupational Classification (NOC) level “A,” “B,” or “0” that is not listed on the SINP Excluded Occupations list. You also need to have scored at least 60 points out of 110 on the SINP Points Assessment Grid.

To qualify for this stream, you must also have completed a post-secondary education or an apprenticeship. You must also be licensed or regulated in your field of expertise in Saskatchewan. Additionally, you must have a strong connection to the local labor market. This will show that you have the ability to successfully settle in Saskatchewan as a permanent resident.

Personal Support Workers

Personal support workers are trained to give consumers/ clients and their families the care and assistance they need to live fulfilling lives in the community or in long term care facilities. They provide personal care, household and family management, meal preparation, assisting with medications and restorative activities.

These workers are also found in many nursing homes and retirement homes where they help elderly, developmentally challenged and severely incapacitated people with their daily tasks and needs. They also offer companionship and social activities to improve the quality of life for those living with a disability.

These workers are also seen in the delivery sector where they pick up packages from sellers on online marketplaces such as eBay and Amazon, deliver them to customers’ homes and then deliver them back to the seller. Their demand is growing with the boom in online shopping and the increase in Amazon’s presence in Canada.

Computer Programmers

Computer programmers are responsible for creating and maintaining code that makes websites and software function properly. They also have to test the code that’s already in place and identify any problems that may be present.

Whether you’re looking for an exciting new career in tech or want to make the most of your current job, computer programming is a rewarding choice with plenty of options. You can find a range of roles in the field, from web developers to information security experts.

The Saskatchewan province regularly updates the In-Demand Occupations List based on demand for specific occupations. The updated list, effective April 4, 2019, consists of 24 occupations that include 13 newly added ones.

To qualify for the In-Demand Occupation Sub-category, you must have at least one year of work experience in a high-skilled NOC “A” or “B” occupation included on the list that is considered to be in-demand in Saskatchewan (see chart below). You can also get licensure or a skilled trade certificate if necessary.

Interactive Media Developers

The Saskatchewan government recently added 13 occupations to its in-demand list, including interactive media developers. These professionals write, modify, and test computer software code for e-commerce, Internet, and mobile applications. They also conduct research and evaluation on a wide range of software products.

They are able to create animation software for film and video, and they may create special effects software for use in television. The work requires a knowledge of computer programming and the use of specialized software tools.

These skilled workers are eligible to immigrate to Canada through the Saskatchewan Immigration Nominee Program, or SINP. They do not have to hold a job offer, but they must score 60 points on the point assessment grid.
